I generally hesitate when I hear a favorite book of mine is being adapted to movie unless its the BBC doing the adapting. There are so many things that can go wrong--bad screenplays, bad acting, bad director--you name it. I cringed a bit when I heard the casting for one of my top five favorite books, The Time Traveler's Wife.
If you haven't read Audrey Niffenegger's first book, RUN to the bookstore a get a copy (its not available on Kindle yet). The book cleverly combines sci-fiction, namely time travel, with the intertwining of two very compelling characters. I thought it was clever and beautifully written story.
Now, New Line brings us the movie version of this favorite. I think Rachel McAdams is a brilliant choice to play Clare, but Eric Bana as Henry??? To me, Eric Bana has played the exact same character in Munich and Troy as he has in the Hulk. Only in Star Trek, where he played the villain Nero has he shown any range. I hope he does well, but he is not my first choice. Or second.
